The top freshman finisher at the meet receives the Freshman of the Year honor, while the Athletes of the Year and Coaches of the Year are selected by the coaches. All coaches are given a ballot, but are not permitted to vote for themselves or their own athlete. The first seven finishers decide the First-team all-WAC, while the eighth through 14th-place finishers comprise the all-WAC second team.
The men's Athlete of the Year was awarded to TCU junior Eluid Njubi. Njubi won the championship race with a mark of 24:42, 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. In addition to the conference title, Njubi earned two individual titles this season and placed 13th at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Ames, Iowa on October 14. UTEP's Michael Talamantes was the Freshman of the Year. Talamantes, who placed 13th, was also named to the all-WAC second team. SMU's Rene Sepulveda was honored as the men's Coach of the Year after guiding the Mustangs to their first WAC cross country team title.
The women's Athlete of the Year went to TCU junior Glady's Keitany, who won the individual title in a time of 17:22. Earlier this fall, Keitany had captured three meet titles and lead the Horned Frogs to three team titles. Shannon Murto of Rice earned Freshman of the Year honors and was named to the all-WAC first team after finishing fifth. Dan Waters of TCU was the unanimous choice for women's Coach of the Year after TCU won its first women's conference title. The Horned Frogs dominated the conference field, placing five runners in the top 12 to win the conference title by a 65-point margin.
