DENVER, COLO. San Jose State senior Brianna Blair has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
Blair, a 5-10 outside hitter from Tempe, Ariz. (Marcos de Niza HS), led the Spartans to wins over UTEP, 3-2, and Tulsa, 3-0.
Against Tulsa, she hit a season high .528. For the week, she tallied 43 kills (5.38 kpg) on 96 attempts with three errors. Against UTEP on Sept. 27, the senior had a team-high 23 kills. Blair followed that performance with another team-high 20 kills on Sept. 29 against Tulsa. Against Tulsa, she also added four blocks. With her 43 kills on the week, Blair moved into fourth all-time in kills at SJSU with 1,269.
With the strong week, Blair remains second in the league in kills (4.66 kpg). Blair is third in the WAC in hitting percentage in conference games (.412) and second in kills in conference games (5.36).
