SMUs Lasiter Earns WAC Volleyball Honors

DENVER, COLO. SMU junior Leslie Lasiter has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Lasiter, a 6-1 junior from Lufkin, Texas (Lufkin/Houston), led the Mustangs to wins over regionally ranked San Jose State and instate rival Texas Christian. The win over the Spartans was SMUs first ever.

The middle blocker led the Mustangs to its first three-match winning streak of the season and stopped San Jose States eight-match winning streak. Against SMU, Lasiter recorded a triple-double with 16 kills, 10 digs and 11 blocks in SMUs tough 3-2 win. Against TCU, the junior also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs in the Mustangs 3-1 win. Lasiter doubled her double-double total, increasing her total to four this season.

Lasiters strong performance helps place SMU fourth in the league in digs (16.45 dpg.) and blocks (2.41 bpg). The Mustangs moved into first place in the WACs Eastern Division with the weekend wins.
