Louisiana Techs Ayana Walker has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens basketball Player of the Week.
Walker, a senior forward from Houston, Texas (Westbury HS), led the Lady Techsters to an 81-66 win over No. 17 Michigan. Walker had a career-high 32 points and added 11 rebounds in No. 5 Louisiana Techs season opener.
The WAC Preseason Player of the Year dominated the second half, scoring 20 of her 32 points in the second period. Walker also recorded three blocked shots which moved her into third place all-time in the Lady Techsters record book with 191 blocked shots.
With the win, Louisiana Tech moves to 24-4 in season openers and 164-77 against ranked opponents.
