Fresno States Nick Watney has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference November player of the month in golf.
Watney, a junior from Dixon, Calif. (Davis), took medallist honors at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State on Nov. 5. He shot rounds of 69-67-70 for a 10-under-par 206 to best golfers from 16 other teams. Watney also participated in the Savane All-American Golf Classic on Nov. 20, finishing in a tie for second. His score of 203 (68-65-70) was one stroke behind winner Brad Haven of Toledo. The Classic featured 24 of the nations top collegiate players by invitation only.
Watney leads the Bulldogs with a 71.17 stroke average. He is the only WAC player to garner more than one win this fallhe also placed first at the Fresno Lexus Classic on Oct. 5.
Also nominated were Hawaiis Matt Kodama, Nevadas Ian Hagen, Rices Matt Toohey and San Jose States Isaac Weintraub.
