DENVER Tulsas Sean Monk has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 19-25.
For the week, Monk, a junior from Las Vegas, went undefeated in matches against New Mexico State and No. 37 UNLV on March 24 and 25, respectively, in Las Vegas.

Back on familiar ground, Monk claimed a three-set decision over New Mexico States Ludo Barthe. After dropping the first set, 1-6, Monk rallied to sweep the second and third sets,
6-3, 7-6. A day later, Monk faced a similar scenario, down 3-6 in the first only to storm back, 6-3, 6-2, to defeat Leslie Eisinga of UNLV.

On the season, Monk is now 19-4 overall and 14-2 in dual action. He has won 10 of his last 11 matches and is tied with teammate Dane McGregor for the most dual wins this season (14). Five wins shy of breaking into the schools top-10 all-time career singles victories, Monks 19 wins to date are a single-season career best.
