TCU's Fielding Named Men's Tennis Player of the Week 4/03/01

DENVER TCUs Trace Fielding has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 26-April 1.
Fielding, a native of Chicago, Ill., captured three singles victories last week to lead the second-ranked Horned Frogs past three ranked opponents. The unranked senior topped two nationally ranked players, No. 85 Balazs Veress of No. 30 Cal and 34th-ranked Stefan Suter of No. 7 Pepperdine.

In the first match of the week, Fielding rallied to upset Veress in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6. After dropping the first set 6-1, Fielding stormed back to win the next two 6-4, 6-4 to topple Suter, the highest ranked player he has defeated this spring. Against No. 71 Santa Clara on March 28, Fielding dominated the No. 2 singles match, winning 6-3, 6-1

Now 9-5 in dual singles matches, Fielding is 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
