The WAC has been ranked seventh since the ranking made its debut earlier this year. The top-seven finish indicates that the WAC should be ranked in the top NCAA quartile again this year.
Our mens basketball programs continue to show the nation that the WAC is one of the elite conferences, said WAC commissioner Karl Benson. It is yet another example of the overall strength of WAC athletics.
The composite conference ranking takes 12 different computer rankings and assigns a value to each conference based on a ten-point scale. This ten-point scale is weighted equally across the spread between the top conference and the bottom conference. Other composite indices use average rankings, rather than awarding points based on the mathematical spread between the conferences. The website claims this is a more accurate way to examine the differences between conference ratings. WAC teams amassed a composite ranking of 92.104.
