Bissettt And Seibert Named WAC Softball Players of The Week
Bissett, a senior from Akron, Ohio (St. Vincent-St. Mary), finished the Lions' 4-3 week with a .455 batting average.
DENVER - Loyola Marymount's Kim Bissett and Portland State's Morgan Seibert have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Bissett, a senior from Akron, Ohio (St. Vincent-St. Mary), finished the Lions' 4-3 week with a .455 batting average in the Western Intercollegiate Softball League Tournament. The infielder led all hitters in the WISL and was named to the all-tournament team.
On the week, Bissett scored a total of three runs and drove in five, while nailing a double, stealing two bases, sacrificing a hit and drawing a walk. In six of seven games Bissett recorded a hit, with multiple hits in four of those contests. In the Lions' 4-2 win over St. Mary's on May 11, she went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Earlier in the week against San Diego, Bissett went 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in a run. She accounted for three of the team 's nine runs in a shut-out over St. Mary's, going 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Seibert, a sophomore from Marysville, Wash. (Pilchuk HS), closed out the regular season with wins over Oregon, 4-2, and league foe San Jose State, 2-1. The right-handed pitcher posted a 1.0 ERA in 14 innings on the mound. She sent 12 batters back to the bench, while only two hitters drew walks. The Vikings top pitcher has allowed only two walks in her last 4.1 innings pitched.
