Porter And Siebert Named WAC Players Of The Week In Softball
Porter ranks sixth in the WAC in batting average (.308).
DENVER - Hawai`i's Stacey Porter and Portland State's Mogan Seibert have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Porter, a freshman first baseman from Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia (Peel Technology HS), led Hawai`i to a 4-0 mark this past week with a .455 (5-for-11) batting average. She also added five runs, four RBI, one double, two home runs and walked twice. In the series opener against San Jose State, Porter went 1-for-3, with a homer, a run and two RBI in a 5-2 victory. In the second game, she went 1-for-2 with her second home of the day to lead Hawai`i to a 7-2 win. In the series finale, Porter batted 3-for-4, with a pair of runs to carry the Wahine to a 7-0 win and the series sweep.
Porter ranks sixth in the WAC in batting average (.308), second in doubles (15), tied for third in home runs (5) and fifth in total bases (77).
Seibert, a sophomore righthander from Marysville, Wash. (Pilchuk HS), went 3-1, including two shutouts. In 32.0 innings pitched, she allowed 21 hits, struck out 24, walked two and allowed four earned runs for a 0.88 ERA. Seibert began the week with a 1-0 victory over No. 14 Oregon State. In 7.0 innings, she allowed four hits and struck out eight. Her second victory came against Tulsa, where Seibert pitched seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out six in a 1-0 victory. Her final win of the week included an 11-inning two-hitter with zero walks in a 2-1 victory over Tulsa. Seibert's only loss of the week was to No. 14 Oregon State (4-2).
Seibert leads the WAC in strikeouts (203) and innings pitched (220.2), ranks tied for third in saves (2), fifth in wins (16) and 11th in ERA (2.38).
