Player of the Week
Due to the cancellation of the majority of WAC womens soccer games last week, a player of the week will not be chosen for Sept. 17.

Polls Stand Still
Due to the cancellation of the majority of last weeks game across the country, national polls will not be updated until next Monday, Sept. 24.

Tournament Play
Three WAC schools look to participate in tournaments this week. Boise state will match up against Cal Poly and Montana at the Cal Poly Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22, in San Luis Obispo, Calf., while Hawai`i will face Cal State Northridge and Eastern Illinois in the Outrigger Hotel Invitational. Tulsa heads to Edmond, Okla., for the Oklahoma Shootout. The Golden Hurricane will play Oklahoma State on Friday, Sept. 21 and Texas Tech on Sunday, Sept. 23.

Fresno State Athletics Carry Torch For American Red Cross
Fresno State student-athletes and coaches helped raise at least $100,000 in a fund drive
effort for the American Red Cross on Sept. 14 to help the victims of last weeks terrorist tragedy.

This is an opportunity for the Valley to come out and meet the
immediate need for monetary help, said Interim Athletics Director Scott
Johnson. Were very proud of the Red Wave, our student-athletes and
coaches. With all the support shown to us, we want to do everything we can
to help out our fellow American citizens.

The WAC Against Ranked Opponents
WAC womens soccer collectively faces six nationally ranked opponents in eight games during the 2001 season. SMU tops the list with three ranked opponents in Stanford, Florida and Texas, who are ranked fifth, 16th and 18th, respectively. Fresno State, Hawai`i, Rice, San Jose State and Tulsa each have one ranked opponent on this years schedule.

SMU to Play Host to WAC Championships, NCAA Womens College Cup
SMU will serve as the host school for the 2001 WAC Womens Soccer Championships as well as the 2001 NCAA Womens College Cup. Games will be played at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 7,8 and 10 for the conference tournament and Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Dec. 7 and 9 for the College Cup.
