Kim Willoughby has been named the AVCA/Sports Imports National Player of the Week.
Willoughby, a 6-0, sophomore outside hitter for 12th-ranked University of Hawai'i (6-4), led the Rainbow Wahine to back-to-back victories against 20th-ranked Santa Clara on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22.
For the week, Willoughby averaged 6.12 kills, 3.47 digs and 0.71 blocks. She set a school record for kills in a four-game match with 35 on Sept. 21. During that match, she hit .316 on 76 attempts to go with 16 digs. Willoughby chipped in a team-high16 kills and eight digs in the rematch with Santa Clara in a 3-0 victory on Sept. 22. For the week, she connected for 51 kills on 120 attacks.
Willoughby currently leads the WAC in kills (6.12 average), ranks fourth in digs (3.47 average) and 10th in hitting percentage (.278).
