Boise States Mark Hoxmeier and Abbey Elsberry have been named the Western Athletic Conference men's and women's indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively.
Hoxmeier, a senior from Hillsboro, Ore., won the shot put at the Snake River Open with a throw of 61-3 (18.67m). The mark exceeded the NCAA provisional qualifying standard of 17.50m.
Other mens athletes nominated included: Vaughn Walwyn, Rice; Martin Allgeyer, SMU; and Adrian Young, Tulsa.
Elsberry, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho, also reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 20-pound weight throw. She set a Boise State record with her toss of 59-7 (18.18m).
Other womens athletes nominated included: Tawanna Williams, La. Tech; Aimee Teteris, Rice; Tracey Ball, SMU; and Monica Joannes, Tulsa.
