DENVER Dan Swanson, a senior from Surrey, British Columbia became just the 12th player in UTEP history to earn top honors, when he took first at the Falcon-Antigua Invitational. He started off the month of September with a third-place two-under par performance at the Tucker Intercollegiate. The Miners won their next event, the Falcon-Antigua Classic behind the play of Swanson. His 210 (-6) placed him first ahead of teammate Chris Baryla (-5). In his final event of the month, Swanson helpd UTEP to a third-place spot with his third top-10 landing of the month, tying for eighth (+1).
OTHERS NOMINATED Halli Heimisson of Lousiana Tech placed in the top 20 in all three of his events this month ... Kolps +1 performace at the Pacific Invitational was good for a 32nd-place tie ... Brock Mulder of SMU capped off the month with an eighth-place finish at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate ... Tulsas Billy Lowry had one top-20 finish, taking 16th at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate ... Mike DeBoard of Boise State finishing as the top Bornco in each of their events this month ... He had three par or better rounds ... Nick Watney of Fresno State proved why he ranked third in the country by winning the Inverness Invitational in Toledo and taking second at the Topy Cup in Japan ... he owns a 69.67 stroke average, best in the WAC.
