Trina Frierson - Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech junior forward Trina Frierson is one of 30 of the nation's top collegiate women's basketball players named to the preseason 2002-03 Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year watch list, announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club Tuesday.

The Vicksburg, Miss., native averaged 7.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in only 16 minutes of action last year while helping the Lady Techsters win the 2001-02 Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.

Frierson, who was also named to the preseason watch list prior to last year, is slated to start this season for Kurt Budke and company and is expected to return to the form of her freshman season. The 6-foot-2-inch forward was hampered last season from a knee injury that forced her to miss the entire 2000-01 campaign.

The Naismith Awards program, now in its 35th year, honors the outstanding college basketball players in the United States.
