DENVER Tulsa forward Danielle Fauteux and SMU goalkeeper Erin McLeod have been named the Western Athletic Conference womens soccer offensive and defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Fauteux, a freshman from Kamloops, B.C., Canada, earned her second player of the week award this year, posting her third hat trick of the season. She scored a necessary three goals in a 3-2 win over conference foe Rice. She helped the Golden Hurricane up their conference mark to 2-1-1, Fautuex is now tied with former Hurricane Jenny Simms (1993-96) as the only other person in school history to notch three tricks in a season.
McLeod, a sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, pitched a shutout in her only contest of the week, defeating HawaiI, 4-0, in Dallas. The Wahine had scored nine goals in their first three conference matches, but had no goals on six shots on goal versus SMU. The shutout was McLeods fourth on the season. The Mustangs are now 4-0-1 in conference.
