The Wahine return to the island this weekend to face WAC opponents Boise State (5-8-1, 1-4) and Nevada (4-12, 1-4). TOURNAMENT RACE - With only two weeks of WAC play left before the 2002 WAC Tournament in Houston, the field is still up for grabs. If the tournament were to begin today, SMU, UTEP, Fresno State, Tulsa, Hawaii and San Jose State, in that order, would all advance, while Rice, Boise State and Nevada would not.
There are a few key matchups this weekend that will help or hurt a couple teams. San Jose State needs a win against Fresno State to keep ahead of the bottom three teams, as they are currently sixth. Rice has the toughest weekend facing the WACs top two teams, UTEP and SMU. They would likely need a win against both to stay alive. Boise State and Nevada both head to the island where the Wahine have not lost a conference match this season.
IN THE NETBOISE STATE - The Broncos suffered a pair of conference losses, losing, 4-1 to San Jose State and 4-3, in overtime to Fresno State ... the Broncos are currently eighth in the WAC and face Hawaii this weekend.
FRESNO STATE - The Bulldogs kept pace with SMU and UTEP, defeating Nevada, 3-0, and Boise State, 4-3 in overtime ... Fresno State now has four conference wins in 2002, a mark that matches a school record ... the 3-0 shutout over Nevada was the Bulldogs fourth-straight win in that fashion on the year.
HAWAII - The Wahine headed to Texas this past weekend to face the WACs top two teams, falling to UTEP, 3-2, and to SMU, 4-0 ... before the shutout, Hawaii had scored nine goals in its first three WAC matches.

RICE - The Owls suffered their ninth loss of the season, matching last seasons total, falling to Oral Roberts, 3-0 ... Rice fell to Tulsa, 3-2, earning them their 10th loss, a school record.

SMU was scheduled to face Houston, but it was cancelled due to rain ... goalkeeper Erin McLeod picked up her WAC-leading fourth shutout of the season in the win ... the Lady Mustangs have outshot their opponents this season, 309-172.
UTEP - The Miners continue to roll as they earned their 13th win on the season, defeating Hawaii, 3-2 ... the 13 wins matches a school high set back in 1998, when the Miners went 13-6-1 ... Kelly Parker now has 17 assists on the season, upping her average to 1.21, currently the eighth best in NCAA history.
TULSA - Tulsa freshman Danielle Fauteux turned her third hat trick this season against Rice, tying her with Jenny Simms (1993-96) as the only other Golden Hurricane to have three tricks in one year ... she also leads the team in scoring with 25 points ... her 11 goals are the third best ever by a freshman in school history.
