ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Alyssa Chin, a sophomore from LaCanada, Calif., won all six individual event in which she competed in Nebraska. Over the three-day event, she was also a member of five winning relay teams and one second-place team. Chin won the 200-yard backstroke in two different meets, 50-yard backstroke, 100-yard IM, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM.
OTHERS NOMINATED Georgina Lee of SMU led the Mustangs to their first SMU Classic crown since 1998 ... the event included six top 25 teams from last season as well as two-time defending NCAA Champion, Natalie Coughlin from Cal ... Lee won the 500 Free with a time of 4:51.93 ... she also finished second to Coughlin, who set a new meet and pool record, in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:01.86.
TEAM NOTES FRESNO STATE - The Bulldogs were off this past week and will be back in action November 1-2, at the Stanford Invite.
HAWAII - The Rainbow Wahine will compete in the Big West Shootout, Nov. 1-2.
NEVADA - The Wolf Pack had a busy weekend in Lincoln, Neb., as they won all three event they competed in. In a dual meet with Nebraska, the Wolf Pack won, 133-91. At the adidas Sprint Challenge, where they finished first out of four teams (Drury, Houston, Nebraska) with 136 points. To conclude the weekend, the Wolf Pack competed in the Husker Invite (Drury, Houston, Nebraska), taking first again, this time with 855 points.
RICE - The Owls will face off with Houston in a dual, November 1.
SAN JOSE STATE - The Spartans are off until November 9, when they host Utah and Santa Cruz.
SMU - The Mustangs won the SMU Womens Classic for the first time since 1998, defeating five top 25 teams from last season. They next compete against Texas A&M and Arkansas, November 1.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN SAN ANTONIO The 2002 WAC Tournament will in San Antonio, Texas at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, February 26-March 1. SMU won the 2003 crown, landing its sixth title in as many years.
