DENVER UTEP midfielder Miranda Cuthberson and SMU goalkeeper Erin McLeod have been named the Western Athletic Conference womens soccer offensive and defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Cuthberson, a senior from Kamloops, B.C., Canada, recorded her second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals and one assist in a 6-0 win over WAC foe Nevada. She had five goals and five assists for 15 points over two conference matches. She had a school-record four assists in the 10-1 win over Boise State, adding two goals. The four assists also tie a WAC single-match high with Jennifer Biondi of UTEP against Troy State in 1997.
McLeod, a sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, allowed just one goal in three matches, earning a 0.31 goals against average. She has a 0.81 save percentage this season. On the week she had 12 saves in 290 minutes, pitching two shutouts.
