ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Lauren Hill, a sophomore from Bellevue, Wash., won the 200 IM and 100 IM in both meets she competed in this past week, helping the Owls to a 1-1 record. Against San Jose State, she earned times of 2:06.79 and 1:05.56, respectively. Against fourth ranked California, Hill posted a time of 1:04.99 in the 100 IM and 2:17.46 in the 200 IM.
OTHERS NOMINATED Alyssa Chin of Nevada won two events and swam the first leg of Nevadas winning 200-yard medley relay team. She won the 200-yard free style with a time of 1:52.99 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.21; Charlotte Pierce of San Jose State won the 100 butterfly against Cal and Oregon State, posting a season-best time of 56.42. She also won the 200 free in 1:56.51 and the 100 fly in 57.64 against conference foe Rice.
TEAM NOTES FRESNO STATE - The Bulldogs are coming off a tie to Cal Baptist, 57-57. The next event for Fresno State is a dual against Northern Arizona and New Mexico State November 23.
HAWAII - The Wahine fell to UC Santa Barbara, 137-81, last weekend. They are heading to the Texas Diving Invitational, November 29-30.
NEVADA - The Wolf Pack earned a pair of wins in a dual with San Diego and Pepperdine. Nevada won, 97-42 and 80-59, respectively. Their next competition is January 4.
RICE - The Owls traveled west to face conference foe San Jose State on Nov. 16, then square off with No. 7 California the following day. Rice knocked off the Spartans, 129-72, but fell to the Golden Bears, 146-105.
SAN JOSE STATE - The Spartans suffered three losses this past week. San Jose State lost to No. 7 California, 178-113 and Oregon State, 165-118. Against conference rival Rice, they fell, 129-72.
SMU - SMUs last competition was at Texas A&M, where they defeated No. 23 Texas A&M, 194-106. The Mustangs last competition of the calendar year is coming at the World Cup, November 22. The next dual for the No. 5 Mustangs is against Georgia, Jan. 18.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN SAN ANTONIO The 2002 WAC Tournament will in San Antonio, Texas at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, February 26-March 1. SMU won the 2003 crown, landing its sixth title in as many years.
