RENO, Nev. Third seeded Nevada cruised past sixth seed UTEP, 30-19, 30-19, 30-24 in front of 510 fans, to advance to Saturdays semifinal match versus second seeded Fresno State.
Nevada (20-7, 8-5) out hit the Miners, .319 to .088 on the evening, as the Wolf Pack used a rowdy home crowd to their advantage. Laura Wooley headed the list as she hit .500, with 16 kills and nine digs. Salaia Salavea had 13 kills on 30 attempts, giving her a .400 average. Lindsay Holda led the Pack with 11 digs.
Michelle Norman was the lone bright spot for UTEP (11-14, 6-7) hitting a team-high .250. Sarah Davis had 10 digs, while Heather Brisnahan added 10 kills.
Nevada will face No. 2 Fresno State in the second semifinal match of the evening on Saturday, starting at 7:00 p.m. The two teams split their two meeting this season.
