UTEP's Cohen Named First Team Academic All-American

UTEP senior Holly Cohen has been named to the first team 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer University Division Team.

Cohen, a criminal justice major with a 3.75 grade point average, led the Miners to the best season in school history as they posted a 16-3 record.

Cohen was the team's leading scorer with a school-record 22 goals and 51 points. She additionally recorded seven assists.

Honored as a first team All-Western Athletic Conference selection, she was the fourth-leading scorer in the NCAA with 2.83 points per game and fifth in goals, averaging 1.22 goals per game.

The native of El Paso, Texas, becomes the first women's soccer player in program history to be named to the Verizon Academic All-America team.
