DENVER Tulsa guard Jason Parker has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens basketball player of the week for December 2-8.
Parker, a junior from Tulsa, Okla. (Memorial HS), scored a career-high 30 points and set a new school record with 8 three-pointers in an 80-69 win over Wichita State last Wednesday. Parker shot 57 percent from the field (8-14), 61.5 percent from three-point range (8-13) and made all six of his free throw attempts. He also added six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Parker played 37 minutes as starting point guard Antonio Reed played only 14 minutes due to an injury.
It was Parkers first ever WAC player of the week award and first for a Tulsa player this season.
The other nominations were junior forward Jonathan Woods, Fresno State; senior guard Terrance Green, Nevada; and sophomore forward/guard Jason McKrieth, Rice.
