DENVER Tulsas Leela Farr has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-Feb. 10.

The senior forward from Joplin, Mo., (Joplin HS) became the third Hurricane to earn the honor after center Alyssa Shriver and center Becky Heidotten earned Player of the Week earlier this season. This is Farrs first Player of the Week honor. The Hurricane are the first team this season to earn the honor three times.

Farr averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists, as Tulsa defeated Boise State and UTEP to move to 10-3 in the WAC this season. The senior shot 54.1 percent (13-24) from the field and 93.0 percent (13-14) from the free throw line.

With the 10 WAC wins, the Hurricane set the Tulsa record for league wins in a season. Tulsa is also one win shy of the Hurricane single-season record for wins (16).

Also nominated: Omelogo Odeze, Fresno State; Chelsea Wagner, Hawai`i; Ayana Walker, Louisiana Tech; Kate Smith, Nevada, LaToya Brown, Rice and Andrea Cossey, SMU.
