Ping Arizona Intercollegaite
The annual Arizona event was once again the first spring stop for many WAC teams. No. 9 Fresno State came out hot, shooting a four-under 848, one stroke ahead of No. 4 Oklahoma State to take the title. The Bulldogs were led by the 13th ranked player in the nation, Nick Watney, who placed second with an eight-under 205. The Bulldogs also found help from sophomore Chad Spencer, whose second-round 66, proved to be the difference maker in the event. No. 28 SMU was also in attendance, placing 18th. Mustang Frank Hatchett led the way, finishing 22nd, with a +2, 215. Tulsa was the surprise of the tournament placing 10th behind No. 15 Washington. Three Golden Hurricane tied for 36th, David Inglis, Kevin Henry and Neil Trimm all shot 217s.

Rice Intercollegiate
Rice finsished ninth at their own event, but played host to the likes of No. 7 Tennessee, the eventual winner, and No. 20 Baylor. Owl Ryan Morgan tied for fourth with a three-round 216, shooting a one-under-par 71 on the final day.

Taylor Made/Waikoloa Invitational
The University of Hawai`i set the stage in Waikoloa, Hawai`i for teams like No. 1 Georgia Tech and No. 13 Oklahoma. Even with such competition, both Fresno State and Nevada finished tied with Arkansas for third. Bulldog Nick Watney placed second again in as many weeks, this time shooting a five-under 211. Nevadas Ian Hagen tied for 17th at +2. Hawai`i finished the tournament 21st, with a team score of 908.

Southwest Classic
Both Louisiana Tech and Rice headed to Victoria, Texas for an 11-team event. With the third-best round of the final day (298), Rice moved into eigth with a team score of 916. With a nine-over-par 225, Ryan Morgan found himself in the top ten for the second week, tied for tenth. La. Tech finished 6th, one stroke ahead of South West Texas State with a 913. The Bulldogs landed two golfers in the top ten. Sean Knox placed sixth and Halli Heimisson was three strokes back of Knox, but finished ninth.

Matlock Invitational
After coming off a great showing in Arizona, Tulsa had an even better one, taking top honors in Lakeland, Fla. The Golden Hurricane shot a nine-over 873, to finish two stroke better than Virginia Tech. David Inglis shot a final-round 71 (-1), finishing secong by one stroke to Florida Southerns Steve Sokul.

Tournament Recaps (Women)

TRW Challenge
The No. 2 ranked team in the nation, Tulsa Golden Hurricane proved to be one better as they took top honors at the TRW Challenge. They were led by the No.2 player in the nation, all-American Stacy Prammanasudh. Prammanasudh shot a one-over 214, to give her fourth. The finish is her 29th career top-ten finish in 38 events. No. 60 Dani Mallon landed in sixth, one place shy of her career high, with a five-over 218. ,San Jose State finished the event in 17th. Rebecka Heinmert led the way for the Spartans, finishing 33rd.

Islander Spring Invitational
UTEP was the only WAC contender in Corpus Christi and seemed like the only one altogether on the second day. The Miners won their first event since September of 1999 where they won the BYU Invitational. UTEP faced a 12-stroke defecit on the last day, and managed a final round 296, where they outshot second-place Texas A&M-Corpus Cristie by 16 strokes. Two Miners placed in the top ten, Leslie Hawley tied for third and Amy Willmon finished sixth.

Lady Aztec Invitational
In Hawai`is first outing of the season they headed to San Diego, Calif., where they placed 16th. The Wahine shot a two-round 667, with Rene Krause tying for 41st with a 166.
