WAC RoundupBoise State split over the past week at the H.E.B. Tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas, defeating Old Dominion 5-2, but suffering a loss to Texas Tech, 4-3. Fresno State had their hands full as they took on the No. 8 Baylor, losing 6-1, making it their fifth straight loss. Rice bettered their season record by two on their east-coast swing, sweeping both ECU and Elon College, 7-0. Nevada headed to California for three matches, coming back 2-1. The Wolf Pack were downed by both UC Irvine and St. Marys, 6-1, but came back to roll over Gonzaga, 7-0 for their second win of the season. SMU had a pair of losses to top 40 teams. No. 13 Texas squeaked out a win, beating the Mustangs 4-3, while No. 39 Miami (Fla.) earned a 5-2 win.
Blue-Gray ClassicFresno State, Tulsa and Rice all head to Montgomery, Ala. for the Annual Blue-Gray Classic. The tournament in being held March 14-16.
Busy as a WarriorThe Hawai`i Rainbow Warriors are scheduled to play in 17 matches in March. They begin with an eight-game home stand starting with Butler on March 11. They then hit the road, for nine more starting on March 21, when they square off with St. Marys.
794 and CountingHawai`i head coach, Jim Schwitters is moving closer to the 800 win mark, needing just six more Warrior wins. Schwitters is the winningest coach in NCAA history. The Warriors next match is with Butler, March 11.
