DENVER Tulsas Danielle Olsen and Fresno States Jamie Southern have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Olsen a junior second baseman from Boulder, Colo. (Niwot HS) drove in 12 runs in eight games for the Hurricane. The junior helped Tulsa extend its winning streak to a program-high 17 games. The winning streak is the longest current winning streak in the country. Olsen had three RBI in a win over St. Peters at the Winthrop Invitational. She had 12 hits and scored seven runs, hitting .462 in the eight games. Last season, Tulsa won 13 games. This season, the Hurricane have already won 27 games with only two losses.

Southern, a freshman from Clovis, Calif., (Clovis HS) earned her fifth player of the week honor by pitching her second no-hitter in nine games against Tennessee Tech. Southern struck out 38 batters in 31 innings with 0.23 ERA. She ended the week with a 5-0 record as the Bulldogs finished the week with a 5-2 record. Southern captured wins over No. 18 Louisiana-Lafayette, Utah, Notre Dame and two wins over Tennessee Tech.

Other player of the week nominees included: Tiffany Whipple, Fresno State; Christy Cerecedes, Loyola Marymount and Becca Baldridge, San Jose State.
