Rices Ryan Harlan has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens track and field athlete of the week.
Harlan, a junior from Hewitt, Texas, finished second in the gold level decathlon at the Texas A&M Multis. He recorded a new school record, personal best and NCAA automatic qualifying score of 7,948. Harlan took first in the 110m hurdles, second in the shot put and high jump, and third both the pole vault and javelin. His marks in the 400m, pole vault, discus, javelin, and 1,500m were all personal bests.
Harlans next event is at the Texas Southern Relays, March 22 at the Rice Track/Soccer Stadium.
Other Nominated: Graham Davidson from SMU, won the 5,000 meters at the College Station Relays in a personal-best 14:39.15. Boise States Justin Sinclair took second at the Rebel Invitational with a school-record toss of 70.33m (230-9); a 15-year-old record.
