Others Nominated
Graham Davidson from SMU, won the 5,000 meters at the College Station Relays in a personal-best 14:39.15. Boise States Justin Sinclair took second at the Rebel Invitational with a school-record javelin toss of 70.33m (230-9). He broke a 15-year record.

Womens
Others Nominated
Cheryl Smith of Hawaii won the 1,500 meters at the Occidental College Distance Carnival and the 5,000 meters at the Long Beach State Track Classic in consecutive days. Nevadas Chanika Corely won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14:05 at the Cal Poly Invitational. She was also apart of the 4x400 relay team, helping them to a second-place time of 3:54.06. Melissa Gibbons of Louisiana Tech placed first in the shot put at the LSU Alumni Gold Relays with a toss of 15.49 meters, giving her an NCAA provisional qualifying distance. Her throw bettered all of competition by atleast one meter. SMUs Karin Van Rooyen won the 1,500 meters at the College Station Relays, with a 4:31.40 in her first time at that distance. Sally Vail of Boise State won the long jump at the Rebel Invitational with a 6.03m mark, and took fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.60m.

Meets and Results
Bruce Drummond Invitational
Nevada was the first WAC team to compete outdoors this year. The Wolf Pack headed to Sacramento, Calif., for the Bruce Drummond Invitational. Jenni Ashcroft was the first of six top-finishers for the Pack, with a pole-vault of 12-4. Teammates Jamila Carter and Maranda Brownson both jumped 17-8 in the long jump, tying for first. Erin Seward took first in the 3,000m steeplechase, and Nicole McRae took first in the 1,500m. Chanika Corley was first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 62.56.

Rebel Invitational
Both Boise States men and women competed in a dual event in Las Vegas at the Rebel Invitational. The Bronco men faced Texas, while the women took on UNLV. For the men, Justin St. Clair broke a 15-year-old javelin record, with a toss of 230-9. Max Hoxmeier won both the discus and shot put, with throws of 179-7 and 61-0 1/4, respectively. Brandon Romney won the high jump with a leap of 6-6 3/4, and the Bronco 4x400-meter relay team took first with a time of 3:17.30. For the women, Sally Vail was the only Bronco winner, capturing the long jump, with a jump of 19-9 1/2.

Cal Poly Invitational
Nevada and Fresno State competed in the Cal Poly Track & Field Invitational, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Nevada athletes took home four golds at the event. Jenni Aschroft won the pole vault for the second-straight week with a jump of 12-4. Jamilia Carter grabbed the top spot in the 100-meter dash, recording a 12.00. WAC Indoor 800-meter champion, Nicole McRae won the same event, this time crossing the tape at 2:13.46. Chanika Corley won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05. For Fresno State, the Bulldogs landed 20, top three finishers and four winners. For the women, April Wiechmann won the hammer throw with a toss of 168-3 1/4. Crystal Phillips grabbed her first gold of the outdoor season, winning the 200 meters in a time of 24.35. The Bulldog 4x100-meter relay team took first, coming in at 46.20. For the men, Mike Guirdy was the lone top finisher, winning the discus with a throw of 173-3 3/4.

Occidental College Multi Events and Distance Carnival
The Hawai`i womens track team headed to Eagle Rock, Calif., for the Occidental College Track Carnival. The Wahine swept the 1,500m, with Cheryl Smith taking first, in a time of 4:39.65. In the 800m, Natalie Kolodziej just missed first, coming in 1.5 seconds behind the winner.

Louisiana State Alumni Gold Relays
Louisiana Tech competed in its first outdoor meet as a WAC member, at the LSU Alumni Gold Relays. The Lady Techsters managed two top finishers. Ayanna Alexander took first in the 400m, in a time of 55.29. Melissa Gibbons won the shot put by more than a meter, heaving it 15.49m.

Texas A&M Relays
SMU and Rice competed at the Texas A&M, College Station Relays. Mustang Karin Van Rooyen, grabbed her gold in the 1,500m, coming in at 4:31.40. For the men, David Gerych won the 3,000m steeplechase in 9:03.96. Graham Davidson won the 5,000m in a time of 14:39.15 and Hannes Hopley won the discus with a toss of 60.50m.
