Tulsas Aleksandra Durska led the Hurricane with a 6-1 win over Central Florida, wining both her singles and doubles matches. The win is her 22nd of the year. Anabelle Duque of Louisiana Tech swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0, giving her, her ninth win of the season. Boise States Erin Polowski went 4-0 from the No. 4 spot, while teammate Jemima Hayward went 3-1 from the third.
WAC RoundupIn a busy week for Hawai`i, the Wahine went 3-3 defeating Murray State and Iowa State, 4-3, and Whitman College, 7-0. They lost to Northern Illinois, 4-3, Clemson, 6-1, and No. 44 Oklahoma, 4-2. SMU went 2-2, with a win over Wyoming, 5-2 and North Texas, 6-0. The Mustangs suffered an upset to Air Force, 4-3, and another loss to No. 42 Oklahoma State, 5-2. UTEPs only match was against Houston, where they defeated the Cougars, 4-3. The Miners other match scheduled vs. NMSU was postponed due to high winds. Louisiana Tech defeated Southern, sweeping them, 7-0. Rice suffered two losses in a Utah swing, losing to Utah, 4-3 and No. 31 BYU, 6-1. San Jose State lost their only match at the hands of Sacramento State, 7-0. In Fresno States only match, they fell to No. 28 California, 6-1, for their first loss in five matches.
This Week Against the Top 50Hawai`i will face No. 46 Washington State in Honolulu, March 21. Rice squares off with No. 50 Iowa. Tulsa heads to College Station, Texas, for a match with No. 20 Texas A&M. Fresno State faces off with No. 49 Harvard, as they look to gather their ninth win of the season.
Home Sweet HomeBoise State hosted the Chandler Classic, this past week, in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos improved their season mark to 12-3, taking four wins in the event. Boise State defeated Gonzaga, Weber State, and Montana, 7-0, then knocked off Illinois-Chicago, 6-1.
Tulsas McMurray Reaches MilestoneThe No. 51 Tulsa women's tennis team improved to 6-2 this season and made Hurricane head coach Paige McMurray the winningest tennis coach in school history with a 5-2 victory over the University of Texas-Arlington. With the win, McMurray surpassed former women's coach and current men's head coach, Vince Westbrook, for first place among Tulsas career coaching leaders with her 53rd career victory.
