Chenal Trojan Cup

Louisiana Tech finished 17th at the Chenal Trojan Cup, hosted by Arkansas-Little Rock at the Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark. The Bulldogs were led by Jay Caserta, who shot a 232, while teammate Chris Baker shot a 235.

Anteater Invitational
Boise State, UTEP and San Jose State all headed to Irvine, Calif., for the Anteater Invitational, which was held at the SCPGA Champions Course. San Jose State just missed St. Johns first-place 884 by four strokes, giving the Spartans a second-place finish, their best of the spring season. Leading the way was John Witherall, who finished tied for seventh, shooting a 219, while teammate Isaac Weintraub, finish 12th, three strokes back of Witherall. In Boise States second competition of the spring, the Broncos took sixth, shooting a final-round 308, good for a 905. Freshman Graham DaLaet, tied for seventh with a 219, led the way for Boise State, becoming their first top-10 finisher this season. Luke Sestero finished tied for 33rd, shooting a 12-over 228. UTEP, the third WAC contender, finished 10th, with a 910. Miner Chris Baryla tied for 14th, with a 224, while teammate Scott Hollenbach tied for 20th, shooting a 226.

Morris Williams Invitational
Fresno State and SMU competed in the Morris Williams Invitational at the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. Fresno State managed a 10th-place finish (909) at the weather-interrupted event. Nick Watney, again led the way for the Bulldogs, carding rounds of 77-73-71 for a 221, jumping from 51st to ninth. Jonathon Echols finished 47th, shooting a 231. SMU garnered 11th-place honors, shooting a 911. Brock Mulder tied for 15th, with a 223, while teammate Franklin Hatchett finished 21st (224).

Oregon Duck Invitational
Nevada and Hawaii headed to the pacific northwest for the Oregon Duck Invitational, held in Junction City, Ore. Nevada landed three individuals in the top 20, giving the Wolf Pack a fourth place showing. As a team they shot, 861, seven strokes higher than third-place UCLA. Leading the way for Nevada, were both Carlos Concha and Mike Haack, who tied for 11th, shooting a three-round 214. Cullen Brasfield finished two strokes behind his teammates, tying him for 16th. For Hawai`i, a final-round 292, gave them a 13th-place, 897. Sophomore Matt Kodoma opened with a 72, only to shoot a 79 in the second round, and bounce back, shooting a 71 on the final round, for a 222 and 41st. Taking 51st, was Norman-Ganin Asao who shot a 224.

Dr. Donnis Thompson Rainbow Wahine Golf Invitational
Hawai`i took ninth at their annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Rainbow Wahine Golf Invitational, which was held at the Kaneohe Klipper Marine Golf Course. The Wahine carded a final-round 329 to finish with a 980. Melanie Matsumura tied for 26th with a 239, the highest finish by Rainbow Wahine this season. Rene Krause tied for 43rd with a 247. UTEP was the other WAC member in attendance. The Miners took eighth, carding a three-round 966. Linda Chen tied for 22nd, for the second time in two weeks. She scored a 237, while teammate Leslie Hawley tied for 31st (241).

Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
Tulsa and SMU attended the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, held in Austin, Texas at the Barton Creek Lakeside Course, which was played in bad weather. Tulsa managed a sixth-place finish, scoring a 950. Stacy Prammanasudh finished tied for 10th with a 226, 11 strokes off the leader. Dani Mallon finished 13th, just one stoke back of Prammanasudh. SMU finished 14th, carding a three-round 920. Missy Ryan finished in a tie for 24th, shooting a 239, while fellow Mustang Jennifer Gutknecht tied for 65th.

Colby Invitational
Boise State competed in their first event of the spring, heading to Carmel, Calif., for the Santa Clara Colby Invitational. The Boise State Broncos landed sixth in the 10-team field. Junior, Marie Beasley shot a 162, good for 17th to lead the Broncos, while Jennifer Hedberg shot a 167, landing her 25th.
