UTEPs Elisa Bjorklund has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens tennis player of the week.
Bjorklund, a junior from Taby, Sweden, recorded a pair of singles wins, helping the Miners to a 4-3 win over Rice from the six position. The UTEP win tied a record for its fifth-straight home win. Bjorklund earned a singles win vs. SMU, defeating Sana Cortas 2-1. She then teamed up with doubles partner Callie Dand to win 8-3 over SMU. She is now 5-2 in match play on the season.
Bjorklunds next match is scheduled for March 8, vs. Tennessee Tech.
Other Nominations; Judith Hagedorn from Rice posted one of only two singles wins this weekend over UTEP, winning at the No. 3 position over Callie Dand.
