Tulsa's Carla Morrow and Louisiana Tech's Ayana Walker and Takeisha Lewis will join more than 80 players who have been selected to participate in the 2002 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., April 12-13. The WNBA hopefuls, comprised of players from more than 60 colleges and universities, will showcase their skills during the two-day combine in hopes of keeping their professional dreams alive.
Morrow, a six-foot guard/forward from Missouri City, Texas, was a four-year letterwinner and starter for the Golden Hurricane. Morrow is TU's third all-time leading scorer and second-leading rebounder. She ranks fourth or higher in 14 different career categories and owns the school's single game scoring record with 33 points against UMKC during the 2000-01 season.
Walker averaged 13.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots a game this year while earning Kodak All-American finalist honors as well as all-WAC first team and WAC All-Defensive team accolades.
Lewis averaged 6.4 points and 4.8 rebounds, while leading the Lady Techsters in field goal percentage hitting 47 percent of her shots.
All 16 WNBA teams will be scouting players in preparation for the WNBA Draft, which will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m. EDT on Friday, April 19 at the studios of NBA Entertainment in Secaucus, N.J. For the second consecutive year, ESPN 2 will nationally televise the event, and additional live coverage will be provided on NBA TV and WNBA.com.
