Humber Named Top Freshman By Baseball America; Four Others Named All-Americans

DURHAM, N.C. - Rice pitcher Philip Humber was named the top freshman in the country in Baseball America's 2002 College Midseason Update. The WAC also had four other players named mid-season All-Americans by class: Adam Shorsher, Sr., C, San Jose State; Eric Arnold, Sr., 2B, Rice; Vince Sinisi, Fr., 1B, Rice; Paul Janish, Fr., SS, Rice.

Selection of the teams and awards was conducted by BA editor Allan Simpson and senior writer John Manuel in discussions with coaches and scouts. Selections were based on performance as well as talent and potential.
