WAC Tennis Championship Seedings Announced
Tulsa, Oklahoma -- The 30th-ranked SMU Mustangs men's team and the 25th-ranked Fresno State women's team each received the top seeds in their respective brackets as the seedings for the 2002 Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championship were announced today. The tournament begins Friday, April 26 at Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of The University of Tulsa.

On the women's side, Fresno State takes the No. 1 seed and earns a first round bye. The Bulldogs will play the winner of the No. 8 Hawai`i and No. 9 San Jose State play-in match. The Wahine and the Spartans will face off Friday at 8:00 a.m. In the other play-in match, No. 7 Rice takes on No. 10 Louisiana Tech with the winner facing second-seeded Boise State at 4:30 p.m.

In the second session, host school and No. 4 seed Tulsa will face No. 5 Nevada at 12:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., No. 3 seed SMU takes on No. 6 UTEP.

The seven-team men's tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. with No. 4 Fresno State facing No. 5 Boise State. The winner will take on top-seeded SMU at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. On the other half of the bracket, No. 3 Rice takes on No. 6 Hawai`i at 10:30 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., No. 2 Tulsa plays No. 7 Nevada.
