SMUs Dalibor Balgac won the 5,000m at the Stanford Invitational in 13:40.46. The time is almost six seconds below the NCAA automatic qualifying time and is a new school record, and Croatian National record. Fresno States Duran Archie won the triple jump with a distance of 50-10 and took sixth in the long jump, clearing 23-7 1/4.

Others Nominated

Irache Quintanal of SMU won the shot put with a throw of 16.38m, an NCAA-automatic-qualifying mark and won the discus with a throw of 50.92m. Melissa Gibbons of Louisiana Tech won the shot put with a new school record 52-2 and discus with a 165-2 foot throw. Kaisa Kiintonen of UTEP won the hammer throw with a school record, NCAA-provisional-qualifying distance of 60.10m.

Meets and Results
Springtime Invitational

UTEP hosted its first meet of the spring season, hosting the Springtime Invitational. The Miner men took second with 158 points, while the women took third with 110. Aaron Egbele won the 100m in the nations fastest time this season, of 10.11, good for an automatic bid to NCAAs, while teammate Tawio Ajibade grabbed second in a time of 10.30. UTEPs 4x100m relay team also took first, in a time of 40.25. Henderson Dottin cleared 7-2 1/2 (2.20) in the high jump which is the highest jump this season in the NCAA. Bobby Agins won the triple jump with a distance of 51-8 1/4 (15.75) and the long jump, with a leap of 24-10 1/2 (7.58). Janne Vartia won the hammer with a toss of 217-5 (66.27), while Janne Sakko walked away with first in the javelin, clearing a distance of 222-5 (67.79). Miners Alvaro Jimenez and Dirk de Heer took first and second with times of 3:52.78 and 3:52.91, respectively. For the women, Kaisa Kiintone and Anne-Laure Gremillet went 1-2 in the hammer with marks of 197-2 (60.10), a new school record, and 196-5 (59.88), respectively. Yuliya Kostina won the pole vault, Lucyann Richards won the 200m, Yemi Fagbalima won the 400m and Corine van Beek won the 800m. The women took first in the 4x400m relay with a time of 43:43.67.

Arlington Invitational
SMU swept all six throwing events at the rain-shortened Arlington Invitational. Janus Robberts won the mens shot with a toss of 19.63m and Hannes Hopley won the discus with a 57.03m heave. Peter Mistsides won the hammer in 56.14m and finished second in the discus with a 53.15m effort, while Andrey Borodkin took runner-up honors in the shot in 18.59m. On the womens side, Irache Quintanal won the shot put with a heave of 16.38m and the discus with a 50.92m effort. Eva Charfreitag completed SMUs dominance in the throwing events, winning the hammer in 53.90m.

Cal-Nevada Championships
Fresno State hosted the Cal-Nevada Championships, where the Nevada women took fourth, while the Fresno State men and women both took third. For the Fresno State men, Duran Archie, Kevin Carano and Kyrah Ayers finished first, second, third, respectively. Archies winning leap was 50-10 1/4. For the women, Crystal Phillips was the main Bulldog force. She alone tallied 29 of their 123 points. She grabbed first in the triple jump, leaping 42-2 3/4. She earned Outstanding Female Field Performer at the meet. For Nevada, Jenni Ashcroft won the pole vault clearing 12-8, while teammate Nicole McRae won the 800m in 2:11.98.
