Others NominatedNoelle Lee of San Jose State raised her overall record to 16-5, grabbing three wins at the UC Irvine Invitational. She is currently on a three-match winning streak. UTEPs Joanna Furdyna went 3-1 last week from the No. 2 position, recording wins in each of her last three matches. Nevadas Vania Apodaca has won six matches in a row, three singles and three doubles.
WAC RoundupIt was a slow week in the WAC, having only three teams compete. Nevada won its only match, defeating Sac State, 5-2. UTEP split, defeating Oral Roberts 6-1, but losing to WAC-foe Tulsa, 6-1. The win over Oral Roberts solidified the Miners first winning season since 1999. Tulsa went 3-0, defeating No. 64 Houston, 4-3, Wichita State, 7-0, then UTEP, 6-1.
This Week Against the Top 50Nevada and SMU will play in the Reno Classic, and will both face No. 26 Fresno State.
Reno ClassicFresno State, Nevada and SMU will all be at the Reno Classic which is going to be held at the Caughlin Tennis Center in Reno, Nev., April 5-7.
Whos HotBoise State has won 13 of 17 matches this season. Fresno State has won six of eight. UTEP has won 11 of 15 this season, solidifying their first winning season since 1999. Louisiana Tech has won five of seven. Nevada has won four in a row. Tulsa has won six of eight, including four in a row.
Boises Perfect TrioBoise States doubles duo of Erin Polowski and Jemima Hayward have chalked up 18 wins this spring season, not falling to one opponent. Overall the pair is 27-2. Jemima Attard has tallied an 11-0 record from the fifth and sixth spot, giving her a perfect fall as well.
Tulsas McMurray Reaches MilestoneThe Tulsa women's tennis team improved to 6-2 this season and made Hurricane head coach Paige McMurray the winningest tennis coach in school history with a 5-2 victory over the University of Texas-Arlington. With the win, McMurray surpassed former women's coach and current men's head coach, Vince Westbrook, for first place among Tulsas career coaching leaders with her 53rd career victory.
