Womens NCAA Regionals
Central
Tulsa
captured the team title at the NCAA Central Regional at the Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich., on May 11, with a final round two-over par 290. The Golden Hurricane were led by WAC Player of the Year Stacy Prammanasudh, who shot a one-under par 71 on the final day en route to winning the regions individual crown. The individual title for Prammanasudh was the 10th of her career, just one shy of the school record held by Nancy Lopez. Prammanasudh completed the three-day tournament with a three-over par 219, four strokes better than second-place Martina Gillen of Kent State. After beginning the day in third place, Tulsa received strong showings on the final day from sophomore Suzie Fisher, who shot a two-over par 219 to finish tied for 11th. Sophomore Julie Tvede also had an outstanding performance for the Hurricane, shooting a one-under par 71, tying with Fisher for 11th place. Senior Dani Mallon completed the day with a three-over par 75. Tulsa finished four strokes better than Ohio State and Texas who tied for second. The Hurricane's final-round 290 was the best team effort of the day, while Prammanasudh's 219 was the second best on the final day. The title gave Tulsa its third straight tournament and its fifth tournament of the season and the most since the Hurricane won eight tournaments during the 1984-85 season. It also marked the second straight-year Tulsa won the Central Region title.
West
San Jose State
University finished tied for 11th at the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford University Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. The Spartans shot a final round 303 for a 921 total. Marcela Leon posted her second straight 73 and Helle Gram added a two-over 74 to lead the Spartans in the final round. Gram was the highest Spartan finisher, tying for 29th with a 227. Leon, with five birdies, and Gram, with three, were the only San Jose State players with a birdie the final 18 holes. The Spartans also counted a pair of 78s from Rebecka Heinmert and Ashley Gomes.

NCAA Bound
After taking the central crown, Tulsa now heads to Auburn, Washington for the 2002 NCAA Championship. Having just missed four of the possible 21 NCAA Championships, the Golden Hurricane have now advanced to the NCAA Championship for the 17th time in school history. Tulsa is looking for its fourth national title. Tulsa won two AIAW national crowns in 1980 and 1982 before winning the 1982 and 1988 NCAA Championships. The University of Washington will host the championship at the Washington National Golf Club, May 21-24.

Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate
Both the Tulsa and SMU men's golf teams headed to the Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla., for the Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate. The Hurricane fired a final round 11-over par 291 for a 34-over par 874 total and fifth place. SMU fired a three-day 885 which was good for ninth. For Tulsa, junior Billy Lowry grabbed a career-best sixth-place finish, giving him his best finish this season, since tying for 38th at The Intercollegiate. David Inglis and senior Kevin Henry tied for 31st. For the Mustangs, Jerome Theunis shot a final-round 67 to tie for 14th. Brock Mulder finished in a tie for 20th.

Mens NCAA Regionals
Central

WAC Champion Tulsa along with SMU, head to Little Rock, Ark., for the NCAA Central Region Championship. The 2002 WAC Champion and first-team all-WAC member, David Inglis leads the field, having led the Hurricane five times this season. SMU is led by first-team all-WAC member Franklin Hatchett and second-teamers Jerome Theunis and Brock Mulder.
West
Fresno State
and Nevada, along with UTEPs Chris Baryla, head to Albuquerque, N.M., for the NCAA West Region Championship. WAC Player of the Year, Nick Watney will lead the Bulldog charge. Although, Fresno State took third in the WAC Championship, they have been ranked in the nations top 20 all season. Nevada heads to New Mexico looking for great play from second-team all-WAC members Sprague Kolp and Mike Haack. SeniorChris Baryla of UTEP was the only WAC member to make the NCAA regionals as an individual. He became only the 11th golfer in school history to win an individual title, when he won the Herb Wimbley in March.

NCAA Championship
The Mens 2002 Division I Golf Championship, is going to be held at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, May 29-June 1.
