Tulsa, SMU Men's Tennis Named To the Field of 64

The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Committee announced the field of 64 teams playing in for National Championship. Tulsa will host a region, while SMU enters through the WAC Championship automatic bid. There were also two singles players and three doubles teams selected.

The first and second rounds will be played on May 11-12. The championship will be played in College Station, Texas at Texas A&M on May 18-27.

SMU (18-12) won the WAC Championship to assure themselves of a place in the field of 64. They will face Virginia Commonwealth (21-4) who is currently ranked 24th by ITA. Along with VCU, The Mustangs will head to Austin, Texas where the winner will face the Texas/UTSA winner. SMU is led by Kristian Pfeiffer, who along with Tulsa's Pawel Sebastyanaki, was selected to play in the singles bracket. Tulsa (15-11) will face Arkansas (14-9) and play host to Southern California and Oral Roberts. The two winners from Tulsa will face off on May 12.

In doubles play, SMU's Johan Brunstrom and Eric Cohn were selected to play in the South Central Region, Tulsa's Dane McGregor and Shri Sudhakara will play in the Central and Boise State's Marcus Bernston and Mark Roberts will play in the Mountain. Seedings for the doubles and singles tournament will be announced on May 22, from the College Station, Texas.
