Men
SMUs Roman Oravec ran the 800m in a WAC-best time of 1:48.22 in his first race of the season. Kyle Carano of Fresno State set a new personal best in the triple jump with a distance of 52-1 at the Cal Poly Tri Meet.

Women
SMUs Irache Quintanal won both the discus and the shot put at the UTA open. Her throw in the shot put was a WAC best and automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championship. Jenni Ashcroft qualified for the NCAA Championships and broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 4.06m (13-3 ). Kara June of Fresno State took first in the steeplechase, improving on her own Fresno State record with a time of 10:48.51.

Meets and Results
UTA Invitational
SMU attended the UTA Open. The Mustangs swept the mens and womens hammer, shot put and discus. Irache Quintanal won both the womens discus and shot put with throws of 50.78m and 16.60m efforts, respectively. Libor Charfreitag won the hammer with a 77.51m heave, while Hannes Hopley edged teammate Janus Robberts 59.75m to 59.02m to win the discus. Andrey Borodkin won the shot put with a distance of 18.90m.

BYU Invitational
Boise State headed to Provo, Utah, for the BYU Invitational. Mark Hoxmeier won the shot put and discus with marks of 62-2.50 (18.96 meters) and 190-4 (58.02m), respectively. Justin St. Clair won the mens javelin, with a distance of 231-1 (70.43m), and Abbey Elsberry won the womens hammer with a throw of 190-8 (58.12m). Nevada took second at the meet, scoring 96 points. Jenni Ashcorft had an NCAA automatic qualifying jump in the pole vault, clearing a school-record height of 13-3 3/4. Chanika Corley won the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.29 and took second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.94. Janita Jones finished second in the 400m with a time of 56.49. Stephanie Tietjen finished second in the shot put with a throw of 48-4.

Cal Poly-CS Northridge
The Fresno State men and womens track team each captured second place at the Cal Poly/Cal State Northridge Tri-Meet The men finished with 125 points, while the women tallied 138.5 points. Mike Guidry won the mens discus with a throw of 171-6. Kyle Carano took second in the triple jump, clearing 52-1. Alex Mason crossed first in the 1,500m, with a personal-best time of 3:52.91. The Bulldog 4x100m relay team placed first with season-best time of 41.21. For the women, Kara June took first in the steeplechase with a time of 10:48.51, and April Wiechmann won the hammer with a toss of 185-5.

UTEP Twilight
UTEP hosted the UTEP Twilight at Kidd Field. Aaron Egbele both the 100m and 200m with times of 10.21 and 20.54, respectively. Janne Vartia won the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic distance of 226-4 (69.00m), while teammate Mike Harris was second with a mark of 167-0 (50.90m). Janne Sakko finished second in the javelin with a provisional throw of 227-11 (69.47m). Dirk de Heer and Jason Atkinson went 1-2 in the 800m, with times of 1:53.95 and 1:55.10, respectively. Bashar Ibrahim won the 1,500m in 3:48.41. For the women, Yemi Fagbamila and Lucyann Richards went 1-2 in the 200m, Fagbamila had an NCAA provisional time of 23.46. Kaisa Kiintonen secured her spot at the NCAA Championships in the hammer with an automatic qualifying distance of 202-4 (61.68m) to win the meet title. Laura Cabrales won the 400m hurdles, winning the race in 1:01.24. Nadia Cole was first in the shot put and took second in the discus.
