HOUSTON Rice's Reckling Park will be the site for one of eight NCAA Baseball super regional tournaments this weekend as 16 teams continue the quest for College World Series in Omaha.

The Owls, ranked second nationally in this week's Collegiate Baseball ranking, will take on Louisiana State in a best-of-three series. Game times will be 7 pm (CDT) Friday, 2 pm Saturday, and 1 pm Sunday (if necessary).

All tickets for the games at Reckling Park have been sold, and the series has been officially declared a sellout by Rice athletic ticket manager David Welsh.

The Owls (50-12) are the number-four national seed in the tournament, Rice's highest ever. Rice defeated Washington 14-2 in Sunday's regional final to advance to its third super regional in the past four years.

LSU (44-20) beat Louisiana-Lafayette twice Sunday by identical 12-2 scores to win the Baton Rouge regional. The Tigers are ranked ninth this week by Collegiate Baseball.

The Owls are making their eighth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance this weekend. Rice won its sixth consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship during the regular season.

The winner of the Rice/LSU series will play either Texas or Houston in the opening round of the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., beginning June 14. Those teams will be player a Super Regional this weekend at Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

Other Super Regional sites announced Monday include Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahasse, Fla. (Florida State vs. Notre Dame); Sunken Diamond in Palo Alto, Calif. (Stanford vs. Southern California or Brigham Young); Doug Kinsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C. (Clemson vs. Arkansas); Hawks Field in Lincoln, Neb. (Nebraska vs. Richmond); Sarge Frye Field in Columbia, S.C. (South Carolina vs. Miami, Fla.); and Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. (Georgia Tech vs. Florida Atlantic).
