Hawai'i Volleyball Ranked Second in Preseason Poll

DENVER, COLO. The University of Hawaii is ranked second in the Volleyball Magazine preseason poll. The Rainbow Wahine, who ended the 2001 season with a 29-5 record, are second behind defending national champion Stanford who ended last season with a 33-2 record.

Hawaii ended the 2001 season ranked No. 13 in the final USA Today poll. The Rainbow Wahine also earned their second Western Athletic Conference Tournament title. Hawaii was the only WAC school to start the season ranked in the top 20. San Jose State received votes in the Volleyball Magazine preseason poll.

The Rainbow Wahine and the Spartans were picked by the WAC coaches to finish first and second, respectively, in the WAC this season. The 2002 WAC volleyball season begins on Friday, August 30 with all 10 teams in action.
