SAN ANTONIO Rices Allison Beckford once again made her name known on the track as she set a new North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 25 Track and Field Championships 400 meters meet record, Friday, at E. M. Stephens Stadium on the campus of Trinity University.
Although the 2002 collegiate outdoor track and field season is long over, and a new school year is about to begin, that hasnt stopped Beckford from succeeding on the track. A native of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, the Rice sensation won the 400 event in a time of 51.21, a new NACAC meet record. The NACAC Under 25 meet is comprised of 330 athletes from 27 countries around the world. Beckford was one of 22 competitors for Jamaica. She is the reigning NCAA indoor and outdoor 400 meter champion, and holds the school record in the outdoor 400 meters with a time of 50.83.
