Idaho State Board of Education Approves Purchase of Indoor Track

BOISE, Idaho The Idaho State Board of Education unanimously approved Thursday Boise State Universitys proposal to purchase an indoor track for the Bronco men and womens track and field teams.

On August 13 (Tuesday), Boise State announced a cash gift of $250,000 from Jacksons Food Stores in Meridian, Idaho, toward the purchase of an indoor track. The indoor track will be used in the Idaho Sports Center which is currently under construction at the Idaho Center complex in Nampa, Idaho.

The indoor track Boise State will be purchasing has been used in recent years at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia for the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The track is 200-meters long, has six lanes, which are banked, and a Mondo synthetic surface. When the project is completed, Boise State and the City of Nampa will have the only championship suitable / world-class indoor track and field facility west of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Boise State has scheduled eight indoor meets at the Idaho Sports Center for this upcoming season beginning with the Jacksons Inaugural Open on December 7 (Saturday). Also scheduled are the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on February 21 and 22 (Friday and Saturday) and the WAC Indoor Championships on February 27 through March 1 (Thursday-Saturday).
