DENVER - UTEPs Bashir Ibrahim and Nevadas Emma Garrard have been named the Western Athletic Conference mens and womens cross country Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Ibrahim, a senior from Columbus, Ohio, took sixth in the 8k at the Lobo Invitational with a time of 24:41. He helped the Miners to a third place finish out of 12 teams. Host New Mexico won the titile.
Garrard, a junior from Anchorage, Alaska, took first in the 5k at the Fresno State Invitational. Her time of 17:59 was the first time she had broken 18 minutes in that event.
