DENVER Rices Lauren Archer has been named Septembers Western Athletic Conference womens tennis player of the month.

Archer, a sophomore, became the first Owl to win the blue singles flight in more than 10 years with her 7-6 (2), 6-3 victory over teammate and 76th-ranked Tracie Chong. With the victory Archer, the 2003 WAC Freshman of the Year, begins the fall season with a perfect 4-0 record having swept all of her tournament opponents. She also defeated teammate and 94th-ranked Blair DiSesa.

OTHERS NOMINATED Boise States Jemima Hayward has gone undefeated in doubles play with partner Erin Polowski. She is now 5-1 in singles play Fresno States Kathrin Winterhalter claimed ninth place and the doubles title at the Bulldog Classic. She is now 4-1 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles action Louisiana Techs Anabella went 3-0 at the Lady Caardinal Invitational Tulsas Donata Majauskaite went 5-1 in September in singles play, including posting three wins at the Polo Tennis National Collegiate Preview.
