DENVER Tulsas Ben Orozco and SMUs Rachel Collins have been named the Western Athletic Conference mens and womens cross country Athletes of the Week.
Orozco, a senior from Kanapolis, Kan., led the Golden Hurricane for the first time this year at the Cowboy Jamboree. He finished 35th with a time of 25:19 in the 8k event, helping Tulsa to a 13th-place finish.
Collins, a freshman from Granbury, Texas, took first at the Cowboy Jamboree with a time of 21:04, her fastest of the season. She helped the Mustangs to a sixth-place finish in the 5k event. The win was her first collegiate victory this season. She finished just ahead of teammate Karin van Rooyen (21:06).
