DENVER Rices Urska Ros has been named the Western Athletic Conference swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.
Ros, a junior from Celjie, Slovenia, led the Owls to the meet title of the school's own Hilton Plaza Rice Invitational over the weekend, a two day-event featuring one of the elite four-team fields of the winter season. Ros won the 100-yard butterfly over competitors from Arkansas, Washington State and TCU with a season-best time of 56.66. The international standout also posted the Owls best time of the season in the 200-free (1:54.19) and she recorded her own season best in the 200 butterfly (2:07.92). Ros was a member of all four of Rice's relay teams for the meet and she swam the lead leg of the 4x400 free where her 100 split time was a 53.10.
