DENVER Fresno States Aritta Lane has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec 8-14. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for the junior. This is the first player of the week honor for Fresno State this season. The last Fresno State player to earn player of the week honors Lindsay Logan during the 2001-02 season.
Lane a native of Aiea, Hawaii, scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field in Bulldog's 71-61 win over Santa Clara on Dec. 13 at home. She was 3-of-5 from the three-point line, connecting on all four free throw attempts and also pulled down nine rebounds in 32 minutes of play. She scored 20 of her 25 points came in the second half, when Fresno State outscored Santa Clara 42-37.
She leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 18.6 ppg, and also leads the WAC. She leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 per game and is fifth in the league.
