DENVER UTEPs Danielle King has been named Novemeber's Western Athletic Conference womens tennis player of the month.
King, a sophomore from Boston, Lincolnshire, England, won all of her flight four matches at the New Mexico Invitational. She defeated New Mexicos Allison Davis with a solid, 6-0, 6-1 win. She then had a come-from-behind win over UT-San Antonios Massiel Martinez, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6. She also added a straight set win over Air Forces Kellie Crail, 6-0, 6-2. She also teamed with Tea Spirta in doubles to win three of four matches in flight two doubles.
OTHERS NOMINATED Hawaiis Kana Aikawa defeated Stanfords Jessica Leck, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. She was the only Rainbow Wahine to win a match in Hawaiis 6-1 loss to No. 2 Stanford
It was her first career match as a Rainbow Wahine Rices Erika Villalobos swept both singles opponents at the Texas A&M Fall Invitational, defeating Texas Tech's Iva Gyurgina 6-2, 6-2 and the host Aggies' Danielle Lee 6-1, 6-4. She teamed with senior Annie Goodrich to beat Texas A&M's tandem of Seva Iwinski and Lee 8-5. They finished the weekend 3-1 overall.
